Klango is being build with great help from hundreds of translators, testers, moderators, administrators and other klango users.

If you want to update Klango already installed on your computer, please go to the Programs menu and choose item Download programs and updates. Select Klango from the collection then, and process of updating will continue automatically.

But if you want to install the Klango on a new computer, please download a current version of the Klango Installer from http://setup.klango.net

1. Updates of Klango are done from Klango.

Changing the login name is not possible and won't be possible in the foreseeable future.

To change your password from within the Klango menus, go to
Klango - My Account - Change Password
After selecting the menu item, you will be notified that all Klango programs that are running in the background (if any) will be closed, and that you'll have to log back in to Klango after your new password has been updated. To continue with changing your password, choose the "Yes" option. To cancel, choose "No."

To change your email address enter the Klango Network menu, then My Account, My Settings and a form will open. Use this for to edit your profile data, including an e-mail address.

All settings are saved automatically. Settings of each Klango Program are independent of other programs' settings. For more info please refer to the "Klango Programs" section in the readme (available also under item "Information about the program" in the help menu).

To use the Klango alarm clock, visit Klango's "settings" menu, and choose the "Clock And Alarm" option.
When setting the time, you can use the "European" or "24 hour time" format, which looks something like the following examples:

9:00 AM American time format, is the same as 09:00 in the European format
4:00 PM American time format, is the same as 16:00 in the European format.

When Klango speak out time (for example when pressing F10) it uses your current Windows time format settings.

By default Klango displays help, menu and a workspace where your actions are visible. Holding shift and F3 will toggle the screen mode. When after pressing it you will hear "screen mode: only logo" it means that there is only the Klango Logo displayed on the screen.

Because of Windows Vista construction common folder and some others was moved to writeable location. To find this location please open file from Klango Folder named 'datadir' in a notepad. It should be something about:

C:\\ProgramData\\Klango 3

Avatar is a small sound file that should say something about you. If you have a microphone you can simply record your name with your own voice. You can send this file to klango network using avatars menu. Other users will be available to hear it.

The name derives from Internet Forums where users are able to have small images of themselves that are displayed when someone is reading their posts. You can say that Klango avatars are sound equivalent for this images.

Yes, such function will be available in future versions of Klango.

Go to settings, and then go to speech synthesis.
You can set different synthesizers for 'main voice' and 'content voice'.
'main voice' will be used to read items build into Klango like menus.
'content voice' will be used to read text areas with forum posts, private messages etc.
This can be useful when you are using English version of Klango but you would like to read forum or webpage in other language.

Selection of those voices is divided by languages and SAPI version ( 4 or 5).

It's enough to delete its folder.

In the default installation of Klango, programs are stored in C:\\ProgramData\\Klango 3\\apps\\

Go to Main Menu - Klango Network - My Account - My Status.

Prompters just like Polls can be accessed with Klango but to create them You need a separate program called Prompter Creator.

Klango itself can post new tweets.
To browse Twitter please install 'Klango Twitter' application using Programs menu.

They are using different sound engines.
Depending on Your sound card and system configuration this modes can differ in sound quality.
If one of them does not work You can try the other.
For details please refer to Klango readme.

If you are within the Klango, go to the "File" menu item within the menus, and (if needed) arrow left till you are at the top of the tree. After that, either arrow down, or press the letter "k" till you hear "Klango Recordings."

To create a playlist, do the following:

1. Within the Klango menus, select the "file" menu item, or press "alt+f."
2. Find the specific files and/or folder(s) you wish for adding to the playlist.
Note: If you want to add all files from inside a folder to the playlist, press "enter" on the folder, then right arrow to the option that says: "Add All Files To The Playlist."
3. After adding files to the list, enter the Klango menus, and arrow right til you hear "save playlist," then press enter.
4. Type in the name that you want the playlist to be called, then press enter. (default name is "playlist..)

You can find your "saved" playlist in .m3u format, by going to the "file" item within the Klango menus, left arrow if necessary to the top of the tree, then press "k" till you hear "Klango playlists." Right-arrow in to it, then find the list you saved.

Yes, you can record your voice by pressing F11.
Press it when you want to start recording, and press it again to stop it.
This actions will be signalised with sound. Synthesizer will tell you the number of the recording.

Use F5 and F6 to adjust global volume of the program.
Same keys pressed while shift is down will control media playback volume.
F5 and F6 pressed with control key will change the volume of current sound theme.

User posting a video on youtube can choose to block embedding this video. Then it can be watched only directly at http://www.youtube.com/

Currently we are not providing any hosting solution, so your audio book have to be stored somewhere on the web. You can not add audio books from a file.
To add audio book that is already in the internet to the catalogue, just go to "Media" - "enter URL manually" and type down book address. Then, while your book is playing, select "add to catalogue" item from the menu.

Go to the "Media" item within the Klango menus, and press the "end" key. You'll hear:
"Enter A URL Manually"
Press enter.
After that, type or paste in your URL in to the field, then press enter, and it will begin playing.
Press the alt key, then arrow down once, then right arrow until you hear:
"Add to the catalogue"
then press enter.
Finally, add the tags you wish to categorize the stream, then click "accept."

Many interesting audio books are available in form of a internet podcasts.
Go to 'Media'.. 'Klango Open Media Catalogue'.. 'Genres'..
You can now press 'ctrl'+'space' to change filter settings and select to see only audio books.
Now just browse interesting categories to find thousands of available audio books.
After pressing enter on audio book chapter You will be asked if You want to listen to it or save to disk or mobile device.

Use "add" option in contacts menu and then just write down your friends klango login.

First of all, you need to install Poll Creator (in main menu: Programs -> Download programs and updates).

If you've successfully installed it, then you can run it from Programs -> Educational Programs -> Poll Creator

While inside the "recipient or recipients" edit line when composing a message, you can send multiple contacts the "same" message by either:
1. Press the "up-arrow" to bring up your "My Contacts" list, and arrow through til you find the contact you wish to add to the edit line, then press enter. Repeat til you have all of the contacts you wish to add, then press tab to go on to the "subjectline," and continue on with the message.
or
2. Press the "down-arrow" to open your "history" list of contacts that you have sent messages to, and do the same just like with "your own!" contacts list.

By default Your favourites are private.
You can change this using "Manage an access to your favourites" from Media menu.

Yes. Klango provides you a large number of programming libraries which will enable you to develop media rich audio programs with extensive Internet functionalities.

A documentation of Klango API is being written at the moment and will be published on our website. It will be free to everyone to create new Programs using the Klango interface elements and functions of the engine behind the Klango.

It depends. Lua language is one of the easiest to learn, but you have to know the basic concept of programming which might require some effort. Lua website at "http://lua.org/" provides a lot of links to tutorials and other usable materials.

First of all you need to find "common" sub-folder in Klango Data directory. It contains files common to Klango and all Programs. To be precise, a path we are interested in is /common/extras/llib/skin, because this folder contains audio themes for Klango.

After fresh installation of Klango you'll find only one theme there, the default one. (Extra themes downloaded with the "Settings" menu are saved in this folder too).

If you duplicate the "default" sub-folder under a different name, then you'll get a new theme. It will be instantly available in the "Settings/audio theme" menu. ...Now just substitute audio files in the new sub-folder with your own sounds and enjoy your own theme.

Zip your folder and send an archive to us using themes@klango.net e-mail address -- we'll publish your work and it will be available to all users around the world.

Blogroll allows you to place links to other websites on your Blog.
They are visible while reading your Blog through web browser.
This option is called Blogroll because it is often used to link to other blogs but You can place any kind of links here.

Go to 'Klango Network' - 'Blogs' - 'My Blog'. Select 'New Category' from menu to add a category. When you are over a category name select 'Delete the category' to delete it.
When creating new post You can select categories You want to attach it to with a spacebar.

Select 'Files' from the menu or press 'Ctrl'+'F'.
Navigate to the file You want to convert, let's say 'test.ogg'.
When marker is over this file select 'Convert file to other format' from menu.
Select mp3 from the list of available formats.
Select bitrate(quality) You want to get.
You will hear a waiting sound and percentage progress rising.
After converted successfully new file will be saved in the current directory as 'test.ogg.mp3'

Just open the file using 'Files' menu.
When file is playing navigate to the start of the piece You want to cut.
Press 'ctrl'+'R' to start recording.
To stop recording press 'ctrl'+'R' again.
Recorded file can be found in Your recordings directory.

Press 'shift'+'F11' to open Quick Web Viewer.
Enter URL of a web page You wish to translate ('cnn.com' for example).
After page loads select 'Translate' from the menu.

Select language You would like to translate from. This is set to 'auto' by default which means google translator will try to detect language of a text.

Press 'tab' to go to the next form field and Select language You would like to translate to. This is set to Your klango language by default but You can translate to any language You want.

Press 'tab' and 'enter' to accept the form. Now You can hear translated web site.

Open the message ('ctrl'+'F11' is a shortcut for received messages).
Go to the menu.
Select 'Text edit' to see the options for current form element.
Select 'Translate'.

The default option is to translate from automatic detected language to language of Your Klango, so just accept the form.

As a lot of other Klango features, translation is also available through a shortcut. Just press ctrl+T while reading any text in Klango.

Select 'Media' from menu.
Select 'Search on YouTube'.
Enter a search phrase and select target video from the list.
Now select first item from the menu which is video name.
Select save to disk.
Wait for download and conversion to complete.
Saved mp3 can be found in You Recordings folder in 'youtube' folder.

Select 'Files' from main menu.
Navigate to the video file You would like to convert ( let's say 'test.avi' ).
When pointer is on the file select 'Convert file to other format'.
Select format and bitrate(quality) You want to get.
File will be saved in current directory under 'test.avi.mp3' name.
